We are returning  to Blyth.  Join us for this weekend trip exploring the scenic western section of the G2G rail trail. On Friday and Saturday nights we will be staying in the Blyth Campground. On Saturday, we will cycle east to Millbank to enjoy a delicious lunch at the famous Anna Mae's Restaurant and then return to the campgrounds. If it is culture you crave, there is even an opportunity to see a live theatre show on Saturday night. On Sunday, we will head west to the trail terminus in beautiful Goderich, home to the salt mines, many fine historical builtings and a famous local fish and chips shop right on the scenic shores of Lake Huron. After lunch we return to the campground to wrap up the weekend.Don’t miss out on this fabulous opportunity to cycle quiet trails and rustic backroads while bonding with your cycling peeps. Price Per Tent is $45 for the two nights of camping ($20 per night plus Paypal fee). Campsites have electricity and showers are available.Price Per RV or Camper is $75 for the two nights of camping ($35 per night plus Paypal fee)

 

Questions

Are there other accommodations besides camping?

Yes, if you want to arrange alternative accommodations and just join us for the riding, please let us know. However, be aware that there is limited accommodation in Blyth and most of it has been reserved by theatre patrons.

 

Can we cycle to Blyth from Guelph ?

Yes, if you want to ride and meet us in Blyth, please do. However, you are responsible for bringing your own gear and securing parking near your starting point. This trip is centrally located in Blyth.

 

Are meals included?

Are meals included?

No.  You are welcome to bring your own food.  Cowbell Brewery and Tim Hortons are close by. 


There are free showers available for any day trippers who want to stay for supper.

 

What are the facilities?

The campground is part of the Community Centre. We will be using the showers and toilets in the community centre.  For anyone coming just for the day, you can also use these showers.

 

What type of bicycle should I bring?

The trails are flat, crushed gravel. The recommended bicycle is gravel, hybrid or mountain bicycle. Although, we know many of you ride the rail trails on your road bicycles.

 

What is Anna Maes?

Anna Mae’s Restaurant is a famous quaint diner steeped in the Mennonite traditions. It was featured on "You Gotta to Eat Here" on the Food Network. It’s known for its broasted chicken dinners and it’s homemade pies and baked goods.

It is a 100 km ride roundtrip on Saturday if you plan to go to Anna Maes.  We suggest that you may want to think about dropping in to Anna Maes on the way to or from Anna Mae’s.

 

What show is playing at the Blyth Theatre?

The Blyth Theatre has two plays on Friday night - Sticks and Stones (outdoors) and Chronicles of Sarnia (indoors).  On Saturday night it has one outdoor offering, St. Nicolas Hotel.   In addition, there is a community supper on Friday night for $25.  All tickets can be booked directly on the Blyth Theatre website.
