Finger Lakes
Back by popular demand, it's the Finger Lakes weekend. For those that have been in the past, you know the treasure that awaits you in the region. For those that are new, the options for fun stretch further than the eye can see. Cycle on some of the best roads in the world with full lane paved shoulders on most roads with any traffic.
Enjoy 3 days of cycling the quiet country roads of upstate New York, taking in the beauty of quaint villages, rolling valleys and outstanding vistas of the Finger Lakes. The area is peppered with wineries, so you may want to bring along a backpack for your days purchases. The weekend includes 3 nights accommodations, 3 breakfasts, 2 dinners, planned routes and some great camaraderie. Its really the ideal schedule for a wonderful weekend of cycling.

The Rides
Three full days of riding are planned with a short warm up ride on Friday evening. Turn by turn navigation using Ride With GPS for your smartphone or gpx files for Garmins and provided. Route maps and cue sheets will be provided upon arrival and offer both a short and long route option each day, with short distances typically 60 -70 km and the long 90 – 110 km. Saturday and Sunday we will start the rides together departing from the College, while Monday has a remote start option at Letchworth State Park (known as Grand Canyon of the East), or a start at the college.
You will be responsible for bringing or buying your own snacks and lunch during the ride, however, options for snacks and stops will be identified with the route description.
Philosophy of the Tour
These rides are not supported and each rider is expected to take responsibility for their safety and be prepared. This entails that every rider must be capable of map reading and minor bike repairs on the road (i.e. fixing a flat tire, adjusting the seat). A trip meter is recommended to mark distance along the route.
You should always ride with someone and have a partner that is aware of your plans and expected travel times as there is no formal check-in at the end of the day. Any youths on the tour must be accompanied by their responsible adult during the rides. It is your responsibility to ride safely and return to the College before dark. A waiver must be signed before participating on the rides.
